Biography

Eliza Petrăchescu (1911–1977) was a Romanian stage and film actress, renowned especially for her powerful presence in tragic roles. She graduated from the Conservatory of Dramatic Art in Iași, where she was the favorite student of the great actress Agatha Bârsescu. Between 1929 and 1941, Petrăchescu performed in over 40 roles at the “Vasile Alecsandri” National Theatre in Iași, establishing herself as one of the most promising actresses of her generation.
